Once again the start of the season is upon us! Even though it was chilly, at 46° to start the day, we were ready and excited to be back out on the track. The team had already spent some days performing track maintenance to make sure we were prepared for today. We had 10 adult members and 5 junior members on Saturday for the run. In addition to our club motive power, Ken brought his switcher, Dan had his Union Pacific, and Steve had his 2-8-0 electric switcher ready to haul passengers. The club’s Grant Trunk and Canadian National engines were also out, giving us a total of 5 trains for the day.
Even though it was cold, we has a steady stream of riders all afternoon. There were a few rare occasions where we had no riders, but overall it was a good turnout. I was happy to see the Canadian National running again after having so many issues last season. Evan has spent some time trying to get it back up and running, and we are grateful for his assistance.
By 3pm the park started to empty out, so Dave and Ken pulled their locomotives out of service and worked on getting them loaded onto their trailers. The club motive power continued in service until the run ended at 4.
